I'm not really sure what happened to me over the Easter weekend.   I think I just lost my mind or something.   Actually, now that I think about it....I DID NOT HAVE A PLAN!!!!

We have all heard this time and time again...  Failing to plan is planning to fail.    I had heard this many times in the past and never really sat down and thought about what it REALLY meant.

Since starting this health & fitness journey a little over a year ago, I have learned the importance of planning ahead.  At first, it was awful!   I thought I would never figure it out.   I thought I'd never have time.   I honestly thought it would be impossible.   The first couple of weeks were painful.   I didn't know what I was doing, I was trying to be creative, however I'm not a cook so creativity in the kitchen for me was O-U-T!!!   I kept at it.  My accountability coach kept encouraging me to keep going, don't give up...so I did...I kept going and didn't give up.   After a few weeks, I was meal planning and meal prepping like a PRO!   I had the bright idea to introduce a new healthy recipe into our family every week.  ONE new recipe a week added up fast...This was one of the greatest things I ever did!   I have a book of go-to healthy recipes now all because I did not give up!

Back to this past weekend.   I started out on plan and doing great and as the weekend progressed, I found myself eating Easter candy here and there as I sat and filled my boys' Easter eggs.   (YES, they are teenagers and YES, we still hunt Easter eggs).   The next day was Easter Sunday and my plan was to enjoy our traditional family Easter dinner.  We started out by having a family breakfast...I quickly caved to all the wonderful goodies the rest of the family was having, then came lunch and I decided to have my Shakeology for lunch instead of joining the family.   Finally, the BIG meal....  I had already decided, I'd enjoy Easter dinner...the problem was I hadn't really planned how much I would be eating.   I totally over indulged on my famous homemade mac & cheese and rising dinner rolls.  I was completely miserable the rest of the night.

I learned a very important lesson this past weekend....of course planning is KEY, but I also need to make a plan on days when I want to treat myself during a HUGE meal like our Easter dinner.  From now on I will plan exactly how much of that mac & cheese I will allow myself to eat along with how many dinner rolls (instead of an unlimited amount)....
